INTO THE BLACK

My Mate Aurelia, Pops the Cherry

10/9/2013

Hi Incy, and thank you for inviting me over for a quick brew and to share my little writing corner with you. I'll pass on the cake though, if you don't mind. It looks delicious but I've had birthday cake every day since Saturday and am a little caked-out. And I thought it was kidding when it said 'serves 20' but no...and it had to be used by yesterday! Anyway, I digress, I'm supposed to be showing you where I work not boring you with my cake escapades. So, here it is, my fabulous little office that is separated from the main house and connected via the garage:
My office doubles as my library too with two full height bookcases with shelves stacked two deep with books!
The Wi-Fi signal from the house doesn't reach and it's amazing how much more productive I become. If I need to research anything, I have to access the internet from my phone instead so I'm not so tempted to "just" check this, that, and the other whilst I'm at it. I wrote the bulk of Popping the Cherry out here, especially weekends when I would leave my husband to tend to the kids then text me to tell me lunch/dinner/a cup of coffee was ready. He's great like that and I certainly struck gold with him. My office is great for weekends or when I'm really up against it with a deadline, but this is where I actually do a lot of my writing:
Yes, that clutter on the arm is all mine, with laptop, notebooks, kindle...
It seems silly to get the radiator going when the house is still warm enough plus it's nice to have easy access to the kettle and a bathroom, along with the constant company of the mad mutt. Incidentally, this is the view I often have of said mad mutt! Provided I close my internet browser, I can also listen to my spotify playlist which has songs to represent key moods and scenes from the second book to follow on from Popping the Cherry  When the temperature drops I will most likely use my office more though: I refuse to turn the heating on for the full house during the day when it's just me, and is far more economical to heat my little office instead. Come evening and I'm back to working from the sofa; I just have to plug in my earphones so I can at least see my husband even if I can't actually talk to him. Now onto the fun part! I am running two giveaways as part of my blog tour, with some fabulous prizes up for grabs. The international giveaway is going great guns, but there has been less take-up of the UK only contest so far so if you're in the UK, you get to enter both giveaways and have a good chance of winning something in the UK only one, just make sure you scroll all the way down to enter...

About Aurelia...

Aurelia B. Rowl lives on the edge of the Peak District with her very understanding husband, their two fantastic children, and their mad rescue mutt who doesn’t mind being used as a sounding post and source of inspiration. She regularly wows them all with her curious, hastily thrown together meals when she gets too caught up with her latest writing project... or five!... and she has developed the fine art of ignoring the housework.
Aurelia writes Young Adult/New Adult crossover fiction and contemporary romance. About Popping the Cherry...

You only get one first time . . .
From driving tests to relationships, Valentina Bell thinks she’s a failure, with a big fat capital F. At this rate, she’s certain she’ll be a virgin for ever. So Lena’s friends plan Operation: Popping the Cherry to help her find the perfect man first time.
Yet somehow disastrous dates with bad-boy musicians and fabulous evenings with secretly in-the-closet guys aren’t quite working out how Lena planned.
Soon Lena’s avoiding Operation: Popping the Cherry to spend time with comforting, aloof Jake, her best friend’s older brother, who doesn’t make her feel self-conscious about still clinging to her V card. But could Jake show Lena that sometimes what you’re looking for most is right by your side?
